As an artist I believe that art is development.
For this, my mission is to access art education to people who have little to no access to it.
I have traveled to The Gambia in recent years, where I volunteered in giving art workshops to teachers and students at a school and a kindergarden. Unfortunately, art and culture education mostly don’t exist in development aid, either in the governmental education system or in NGO Programs.
Art and culture are social-cultural keys to empowering and developing a country. Art promotes autonomy and the associated manifestation of a society. Art is the instrument of social change and emancipation.
The following pictures were created through participatory work between me and the children.
I added, of course with their consent, their paintings to my Portrait photography to emphasize the importance of her own creation.
During each of my stays, I was able to grow and learn personally.
I cooperate with local artists and let them show me techniques and materials.
It is important to me to use materials sustainably, but also to promote existing techniques and forms of expression in order to preserve and build on them.
This knowledge I pass to schools and organizations. The focus here is on the teachers, as they in turn pass on the knowledge to the students when I am not on site and can hold my workshops.
To do this, I try to establish direct contact between artists and educational institutions. I love what I do and always sneaking for new corporations in this field.
